Dr. Dimitri Kadic

DACVS-LA | DECVS

My name is Dimitri Kadic and I am an internationally recognized equine surgeon holding both the Diplomate status of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (DACVS-LA) and the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (DECVS), since 2021.

After graduating Cum Laude from Ghent University in 2014, I pursued advanced international training within several leading equine referral hospitals across Europe and North America. My postgraduate surgical education included Tierklinik Lüsche (Germany), Newmarket Equine Hospital (United Kingdom) and a residency in Equine Surgery at the University of Montréal (Canada).

From 2020 to 2026, I worked at Equitom Equine Clinic in Belgium as a specialized equine surgeon. I am currently based at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Liège, active as a freelance surgeon in multiple referral centers and available worldwide.

"Combining surgical precision with clarity, trust and continuity in equine care."

Dr. Dimitri Kadic — surgical philosophy
Philosophy

Precision in surgery.
Clarity in communication.
Continuity in care.

Medical and surgical problems in horses are often accompanied by uncertainty, concern and a significant emotional burden for owners. That is why I attach as much importance to the quality of care as to the quality of communication.

Each patient is managed according to an approach based on transparency, attentive listening and structured decision-making, so that the owner feels fully supported and involved at every step of the diagnostic and therapeutic process.

My goal is not limited to providing the highest level of veterinary care. I also wish to create an environment in which both the horse and the owner feel supported, understood and confident throughout their care journey.

For me, equine medicine is not simply a profession. It is a genuine passion that guides my daily commitment to my patients, their owners and my colleagues.

For referring veterinarians

Collaborative referral care

Collaboration with referring veterinarians and equine hospitals worldwide is a cornerstone of my work. I firmly believe that the best outcomes for both horse and owner are achieved through a strong partnership between the referring veterinarian and the specialist team. Mutual trust, transparent communication, and a shared commitment to clinical excellence form the foundation of every referral.

I greatly value the confidence that colleagues place in me when entrusting their patients to my care. Every case is approached with the understanding that the referring veterinarian remains an essential part of the diagnostic and therapeutic process. My goal is not only to provide advanced surgical expertise and specialist consultation, but also to support colleagues in their decision-making and case management whenever needed.

Each referral receives individualized attention, thorough clinical evaluation, and timely feedback throughout every stage of the case. Detailed reports, open discussion of treatment options, and direct communication help ensure continuity of care and a seamless experience for both veterinarian and client.
